Pure Genius

Bangle Display

I always like to display jewelry I just think they are so pretty and should be out in the open where people can see! So I hired my boyfriend Kenny to make me a bangle display. I previously used wine bottles, which did work great but I wanted something a little more professional!

He did an amazing job in creating a easy display out of a piece of wood, a wooden dowel and a piece of 1-1/2 inch PVC pipe. You can make them any size you want you just take a piece of wood ( I used aspen but you can use anything) and cut it to whatever size you want. Then take a wooden dowel and cut it the height you want. Then you drill a hole through the bottom of the PVC and also into the wood but only going halfway into the wood not all the way through. Then you put a little wood glue in the hole and put everything together. So simple and makes your bangles and bracelets look so cute!

Anthropologie

I just got a new dresser and I was looking for some cute things to display some of my jewelry in.
I went in Anthropology and as usual, they have the cutest stuff.

They had this vintage looking farmers market egg crate that I loved and I thought it would be a good idea to put rings and earnings in it instead of eggs. Plus I loved the color!

They also had this adorable white container that looked like an old berry basket you would get berries in from the farmers market. I loveeed both. They worked nicely as a place to store some jewelry.

Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream

We tried making our own chocolate ice cream last night, it was delicious.
We used our Cuisinart ice cream maker, which is so easy to use.
I made a simple chocolate ice cream recipe, but using the cocoa powder made it so rich and chocolatey; more so then normal chocolate ice cream you would buy.

I reversed the heavy cream and milk measurements to make it less fattening. However, if you would like it more creamy (although mine was super creamy) then reverse the measurements I have below and put 1-1/2  cups of milk and 3-1/4 cup of heavy cream

What you'll need:
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (Dutch process preferred)
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3-1/4  cups milk
1-1/2 cups heavy cream
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

(Your freezer bowl from the ice cream maker needs to be in the freezer prior to you making the ice cream at least overnight)
Place the cocoa and sugars in a medium bowl; stir to combine. Add the whole milk and use a hand mixer on low speed or whisk to combine until the cocoa and sugars are dissolved, about 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla.
Pour into frozen freezer bowl and put in machine and turn on. Let churn in the machine for 30 minutes. Take out bowl and put saran wrap over the top but touching the ice cream (this prevents it from getting icy) Let freeze for at least 2 hours or so and then it is ready to eat. YUM!

Garden Update

Everything in the garden seems to be growing great!
We have lots of herbs and plants and we just picked our first couple tomatoes and cucumbers!
Also the lavender started, which is my favorite! It is so beautiful and organic looking.
Flowers are doing good too! :)

Kiel James Patrick

I love anchors and anything to do with anchors. Jewlery, clothes, anything!
I found this adorable brand from Rhode Island, Kiel James Patrick.

I ordered the "Turks Head Knot Rope Sailor Bracelet" in Honey Fitz.
The whole website is absolutely my style! Beachy, nautical, and preppy.
Love Love Love!

Yummy Lunch

This is a really yummy and healthy lunch that me and my mom always make.
We use sandwich thins (those thin bread discs that are only 100cals each),
and open them so their is two halves.
We then add fat free ricotta cheese, just spread a layer on each side of the bread. To that we squirt on lemon all over the ricotta cheese. Next, we add slices of avocado, chopped tomatoes, thin red onion, and chopped baby arugula on top. To finish it off drizzle extra virgin olive oil, and a little red wine vinegar and finally salt and pepper.

Kennys Birthday Sugar Cookies

Kenny has been asking me for literally a year to make him my sugar cookies (his favorite), so since it was his birthday I decided to make them. It is a simple sugar cookie iced with icing made of confectioners sugar, milk, and a splash of vanilla. The hard and time consuming part is the decorating but they turned out great and Kenny was so happy! :)

Love you Kenny!
